Project settings give your team shared choices for describing projects and breaking down their costs. They appear under Company > Company Settings when the Projects module is enabled.

Organize your project list

Use Project Types to describe the work, such as Office fit-out or Relocation. Use Office Categories for a separate grouping, such as Headquarters or Regional office. You can select these values on a project and filter the project list by them. Open the corresponding settings page and click Create Project Type or Create Category. Enter a name and save, then choose it on the relevant projects.

Break down a project budget

Use Project Budget Categories for cost groups such as Furniture, Construction, or Professional fees. A project budget records budgeted amounts and actual spending against these categories, allowing you to compare the two for each part of the work. Click Create Category to add a cost group. Then add the amounts on the project’s budget. Creating a category does not assign a budget or record a cost.

Capture additional project information

Use Custom Project Fields for information that does not fit the standard project fields, such as an internal approval reference. Click Create Field, name the field, and choose the appropriate type and display options. Select a row in any of these settings lists to edit it. For guidance on choosing custom fields for other records, see Custom fields.
