Clause categories organize the provisions you want to summarize from each lease, such as Assignment and subletting or Maintenance responsibilities. They give abstractors a consistent place to record what each agreement says. A category does not supply standard contract wording. Your team enters the summary and supporting references on each lease.

Add a clause to your abstraction workflow

  1. Open Company > Company Settings > Lease Clause Categories.
  2. Click Create Category and enter a name for the provision.
  3. Select Automatically add this clause when creating a new lease if your team should review it on every new lease.
  4. Select Add this clause to existing draft leases to include it in leases already being abstracted.
  5. Save the category.
For example, automatically adding Assignment and subletting prompts your team to capture those terms even when they differ across agreements. It adds an entry to complete, not a completed clause summary. Select a category’s row to change its settings. The Added To New Leases column shows which categories are included automatically. The existing-drafts option does not add clauses to published leases. See Lease Abstraction for completing the clause details on a lease.
