# Transaction milestones

> Start each new transaction with the stages your team normally tracks.

Default transaction milestones create a reusable checklist of stages for new transactions. For example, your team might track **Site selection**, **Terms agreed**, and **Lease executed**.

## Set the default stages

When the Transactions module is enabled:

1. Open **Company > Company Settings > Transaction Milestones**.
2. Click **Edit Default Transaction Milestones**.
3. Enter the milestone names in the order your team follows, then save.

Spacebase copies these names and their order into each new transaction. Set the dates and track progress on the transaction itself.

Changing the defaults affects transactions created afterward. It does not rename or reorder milestones on existing transactions.
